中国戏曲中人物角色的分类：生 旦 净 丑

　　中国戏曲中人物角色的行当分类，按传统习惯分为生、旦、净、丑四种基本类型。每个行当又有若干分支，各有其基本固定的扮演人物和表演特色。

　　In Chinese opera, there are four types of roles: the male and female roles, the painted-face role, and the comedic role. Every role has its own specific brands.

　　生：shēng

　　戏曲中的男性角色，可分为三种类型。

　　小生：xiǎo shēng

　　Xiaosheng

　　戏曲中青年男性角色，扮相比较清秀、英俊。

　　Young handsome men in chinese opera, most of them are scholars. This character is frequently portrayed in love stories.

　　老生：lǎo shēng

　　Laosheng

　　戏曲里的中年男性，性格正直刚毅，举手投足温文尔雅。

　　The laosheng is a dignified older role. These characters have a gentle and cultivated disposition and wear sensible costumes.

　　武生：wǔ shēng

　　Wusheng

　　戏曲中擅长武艺的角色。要有一定的武术功底和唱念功夫。

　　A martial character for roles involving combat. They are highly trained in acrobatics, and have a natural voice when singing.
